Private Client Services in Vietnam

Vietnamese counsel for families and their overseas advisers on cross-border inheritance, high-value private transactions and the division of family assets.

When a family’s assets span more than one country

A family abroad may agree to sell a home in Vietnam, yet the title still names a parent who has died. Before anyone takes a deposit, the family needs to establish who inherited the property and who has authority to sign.

ANT Lawyers advises private clients on the Vietnamese part of an estate, a purchase or sale, or a division of property. We work with the family and, when instructed, its overseas counsel to connect the ownership evidence with the decision the client needs to make.

How we can help

Cross-border estates and inheritance

We review the will, family relationships, title documents and any overseas estate papers. Where several heirs are involved, we help identify who can give instructions, what evidence is missing and how the family can approach a transfer, sale or distribution in Vietnam.

Buying or selling high-value private assets

For a property purchase or sale, we review the seller’s authority, ownership documents, deposit terms, payment milestones and conditions for completion. If the family holds the asset through a company, our corporate team can review share ownership and signing authority alongside the transaction.

Division of family and marital assets

When spouses separate or relatives disagree about ownership, we examine when and how the asset was acquired, who funded it, whose name appears on the title and which agreements exist. That record helps the client assess a negotiated division, a buyout or a dispute in Vietnam.

Family records as evidence of ownership and entitlement

A birth, marriage or death record can establish one fact in a larger estate or property file. We begin with the question the bank, notary, buyer or overseas lawyer needs answered, then check the family record against the will, title or transaction documents.

Proving a family relationship

A birth extract can connect an heir to a parent. A marriage record or divorce document may help establish the relationship or dates relevant to an ownership or asset-division question.

Documenting a death for an estate

A death record may be needed before the family can deal with an account or property. Evidence of who inherits and who can sign for the estate is a separate part of that review.

Selected experience

Review of a residential purchase

A private client asked ANT Lawyers to assess a contractual issue with a developer in Vietnam. We reviewed the transaction documents and gave the client a written assessment of the issues and next steps.

Working with family members and overseas counsel

Where to start

Tell us what the family intends to do, what the asset is, where it is held, who is involved and any signing or court deadline. A short summary is enough for the initial conflict and scope review.

Coordinating the Vietnamese work

We agree who will instruct us and who may receive updates. With the client’s authority, we can coordinate document requests and Vietnamese legal advice with the lawyer administering the estate or handling the family proceedings abroad.
