Mr. Tuan Nguyen is the Managing Partner of ANT Lawyers and has overall responsibility for the management of the firm. With over 20 years of experience, Mr. Nguyen has advised and represented clients including international companies, international organizations of all sizes and individual clients whom are interested in doing business or needing legal services or representation in Vietnam, from small transactions to million dollars worth investment, in energy, telecom, shipping, insurance, dispute matters.

Mr. Nguyen obtained a B.A Degree from Foreign Trade University, Vietnam, LL.B. Degree from Hanoi National University – School of Law, Vietnam, and MBA Degree from Warwick Business School, United Kingdom with exchanged to Australian Graduate School of Business (AGSM), Australia. He is a member of the Hanoi Bar Association, Vietnam Bar Association.

Mr. Nguyen is also a Weinstein JAMS International Fellow of the year 2020-2021, he attended the practical trainings in San Francisco office of JAMS between Aug-Oct 2023, a United States based program intended for individuals that demonstrate experience and commitment to the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).

Mr. Nguyen has been accredited as Mediator by UK based CEDR, Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution and by Hanoi Department of Justice in 2019. Mr. Nguyen also completed the stage 1 of Program of the Institute for the Development of Arbitration (PIDA 1) training by International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), International Court of Arbitration and is an Associate of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (ACIArb).

Mr. Nguyen has worked for and with a number of MNCs, State Owned Enterprise (SOE), and private enterprises in various positions in management, compliance, and in-house counsel in telecom, shipping and transportation, financial institutions before practicing law.  He lived in the United States for two years between 2003-2005 and worked with Maersk Inc.

The experience in both business and legal practice, and the excellent relationships with all major stakeholders of the Vietnam Government Agencies help Mr. Nguyen provide clients with competitive, flexible, client-led services that comes with the assurance of quality, confidentiality and trust.

Representative Legal Matters

• Corporate M&A:
  • Advised an TECHNO, an European based company in software and internet solutions on various transactions for acquiring shares in a leading Vietnamese online travel agency (M&A).  Responsible for due diligence and drafting various share purchase agreements.
  • Represented WESGATE in M&A in million dollar real estate projects in Vietnam which is reported as one of the most prominent M&A projects in the year 2015
• Dispute Resolution:
  • Advising and representing a prominent Asia based insurance company on dispute on Billing of Lading issues with a shipping agent in Vietnam;
  • Advising AKZO NOBEL, a global chemical company in handling million dollar dispute cases in Vietnam;
  • Represent Nortel Vietnam Limited (NVL), a telecom equipment makers on its disputes against Customs Authority in regard to import of telecom equipment and import taxes; and re-export of spares as under fixed assets.
  • Representing a number of foreign manufacturers in numerous Anti-dumping cases.
• Contract:
  • Represent DANAGROUP on negotiation and draft agency contract with Hong Kong airlines on cargo sales;
  • Represent BANCORE, a Denmark IT service company specializing in mobile banking and micro-payments in signing Business Cooperation Agreement with VPBank, one of a leading commercial banks in Vietnam;
  • Draft contract for FPT IS, a leading information service company to provide infrastructure and software for Vietnam National Rail Corp for implementing online ticket reservation system.
  • Draft investors’ right agreements, share purchase agreements and other shareholders’ agreements to facilitate M&A deals, re-structuring, share issuance for numerous joint stocks companies.
• Foreign Investment:
  • Give advice on business structuring and services to set-up trading, service, manufacturing companies such TERAL, a leading Japanese industrial pumps and fans manufacturer;
  • GENERAL MOTORS, a leading US company in manufacturing and assembling cars;
• Infrastructure Projects:
  • Advise on HTC GSM technology infrastructure telecom networks projects for Vietnamobile, one of the eight mobile operators in Vietnam.
  • Advise top management levels and board of directors of RENERGY, an energy company on Thuan Nhien Phong, a USD 600 mil 300 MW energy project in Binh Thuan, Vietnam, from licensing, re-structuring, corporate governance, compliance, financing deals;
  • Advise Toshiba, IHI, Mitsui Engineering, CTCI, the contractors of 2 x 660 MW Van Phong 2 thermal power plant in Khanh Hoa, Vietnam.
• Shipping & Maritime:
  • Advised ABC Maritime AG in potential disputes relating to Vietnam companies’ assets;
  • Acted for Diamond Maritime DMCC, M.A.S Marine Company S.A to purchase ships from Vietnam ship owners.
  • Representing a foreign vessel owners in handling dispute with insurance companies in Vietnam in million dollar value of collision matters.
